Time
Time. What is time and why should anyone care?
I have noticed that time passes almost at the speed of light when I pretend not to care about it. On the contrary, it hardly moves when there’s so much thinking and attention to time and its details. I realized from the early years of life that it was time that didn’t seem to care or give a shit about whether I noticed it. It was time that kept moving and passing by quickly and has no concern whatsoever to the inhabitants of this world or whatever else we deemed important.
Time waits on no man. Life and death are metrics of time. If that holds true then time is in the hands of a higher being or master power that controls it. The longer we live, the more we realized that there might be very little time left to do the things we desire. Until we are placed in a situation that’s threatening to the thought of time, we begin to act in ways that we didn’t know was possible.
Although we know little about time, we know that it is a very powerful dictator of our lives day in and day out as we set out to achieve our goals. Without knowing how much of it we have, most of us try aggressively to make the best use of time while we can until it stops us. Maybe it’s unfair that we’ve not been given a deadline by time and from what we know historically it’s never going to change.
We live our lives hoping there is enough it to go around and get everything done. Be successful, happy, raise families, travel the world and try to defy aging and death. While some of us may get those things done, others didn’t have the luxury to make it happened for them. However, we can’t blame time for that. Time suggests that somethings are meant to be and others aren’t. We hear all the time that everything happens with time.
Since we know time is a master that controls our lives and don’t care how we feel about that, then we have to live like its the last of it left. We have to prioritize how we use our time, how we give it and with whom we spend it. We have not better choices.
Synchronizing our priorities with time means acting and responding to things now. Not letting it up for later or tomorrow because that’s not something that is going to sit well with time. When we think we have enough of it, little we know how close we could be the end of it for us.
The time we spend thinking about how much time we have, should perhaps be channeled into thoughts like what can be done with the time that is left. Better yet, who can we serve, what mark can we leave and how our lives have been changed from these actions.
